Dead end

Hebrews 9: 15For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.

The book of Hebrews tells us that there were ways to rid us of sins under the Old Testament, but that Christ brought a new way. Christ bypassed the trappings of the old method, with animal blood being spilled as a way to pay for sins, and applied a new way. He paid with HIS blood, which was about as superior a payment as anything could be. It covers us. COVERS us - as in - we no longer have to repeat the sacrifice, nor do we have to live in fear that our sins separate us from the love of God.

The old ways were a dead end - they went 'so far' and no farther. They were a shadow, a cheap copy, an imitation of the real thing. Christ Jesus is that real thing.

Thousands of years of prophesy and tradition have pointed us to the one Lamb which, when slain, paid the price for the sin of the world.

I like that.
